For excellent sushi rice, RiceSelect is a perfect, short grain, sweet, sticky rice with no additives, that’s the first pat in having great sushi the base ingredient. The tip I will give you is with rice wash it under running water for at least 5mins. Rinsing your rice until there is clear, clean water running water is imperative for best results, not just with RiceSelect but with any sushi rice.
RiceSelect Cooking Instructions:
- Thoroughly rinse 1 cup Sushi rice in cool water.
- Repeat process until water runs clear.
- Drain well.
- Place 1 cup rinsed rice in heavy 2 quart saucepan.
- Add 1-1/4 cups cold water.
- Heat on high until boiling.
- Reduce heat to Low.
- Cover and simmer 20 minutes or until water is absorbed.
- Do not lift lid during cooking.
- Remove pan from heat and let stand covered for 10 minutes.
- If making sushi, after 10 minute rest period put rice in non-metallic bowl; stir in 2 tablespoons seasoned rice wine vinegar.
- Mix well and continue with your favourite sushi recipe
